Texas Pralines

    Ingredients

    1 cup sugar
    1 cup packed brown sugar
    2 Tbsp. Karo syrup
    1/2 cup cream or evaporated milk
    1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
    Dash of salt
    1/4 stick butter
    2 cup pecans

    Directions

    Combine sugars, syrup, cream, cream or tartar,
    salt and butter; boil to soft-ball stage.  Remove
    from heat; beat for 2 minutes.
    Cool for 15 minutes.  
    Beat again 10 times; add pecans.
    Drop onto waxed paper.  
    Add small amount of hot water if candy gets too
    hard.
    Makes 16 pieces.
