    Cardamom Sour Cream Waffles

    Ingredients

    1 cup sifted flour
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    1 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. cardamom
    1/2 tsp. salt
    2 large eggs, separated
    1/2 stick butter, melted
    1 cup sour cream
    1 cup buttermilk

    Directions

    Sift together first 5 ingredients.  Set aside to use
    later.  Beat egg yolk.  Beat in melted butter.  Add
    sour cream and buttermilk.  Mix only unitl blended.  
    Mix with dry ingredients.  Beat egg whites until
    they stand in soft, stiff peaks; fold into the mixture.  
    Pour batter into waffle iron and bake 4 to 5
    minutes or until steam subsides.  
    Serve with butter and lingonberry preserves or
    jam, if desired.
