Ingredients -
  1 loaf French bread
  1/2 stick of butter or 1/4 cup garlic
      butter, spread
  3/4 pound deli ham
  1/2 pound Provel cheese -
see
      recipe below
*or substitute with
      provolone cheese, sliced thin
  paprika

Directions:
preheat oven to 350 degrees.

1. Melt a half stick of butter and add garlic
powder to taste.

2. Slice French bread in half lengthwise and
then place open face on a cookie sheet.

3. Spread butter on bread.

4. Add a layer of ham

5. Add a layer of provel or substitute with
mozzarella cheese.

6. Sprinkle with paprika

7. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes.  

*Recipe for "Provel" cheese:
**Note: don't use bagged shredded
cheese, they tend to be very dry and
don't melt well.**
  
Ingredients:
    2 cups shredded white American
      cheese
(ask the deli person to  
      just cut you an 8 oz chunk)
  1/2 cup shredded Monterey Jack
      cheese
  3 drops liquid smoke

1. Toss the cheeses with the liquid
smoke in a medium bowl

2. Cover until ready to use.

3. Shred your own.
