Texas Sheet Cake
2 sticks butter 1 cup water 5 Tbsp. cocoa 2 cups flour 2 cups sugar 1/2 tsp. salt 2 eggs 1/2 cup sour cream or buttermilk 1 tsp. soda 1 tsp. vanilla Directions Bring butter, water, and cocoa to boil. Remove from heat. Add flour, sugar, and salt. Beat with mixer till smooth. Then beat in eggs, sour cream, soda and vanilla. Pour into greased 10 x 15 pan. Bake at 400 for 20-25 minutes.
1 stick butter 4 Tbsp. cocoa 6 Tbsp. milk 4 1/2 cups powdered sugar 1 tsp. vanilla 1/2 cup chopped nuts In a heavy saucepan heat to a boiling - butter, cocoa and milk. Remove from heat and add powdered sugar, vanilla and nuts. Pour hot frosting over hot cake. Spread evenly. Cool. |
