Queen Elizabeth Tea Cake
1 cup chopped dates 1 tsp. soda 1 cup boiling water 1 cup sugar 1 stick butter 1 egg 1 tsp. vanilla 1 1/2 cups flour Frosting: 1 stick butter 8 Tbsp. cream 8 Tbsp. sugar 1 tsp. vanilla Directions Pour boiling water over dates and soda, set aside. Mix butter and sugar, cream well. Add date mixture and egg, flour and vanilla. Mix well and bake in a 9x13 inch pan. Bake at 325 for 35 minutes. For frosting, boil all ingredients for 2 minutes and spoon over cut cake in pan. |
