    Jam Cake

    Ingredients

    2 cups sugar
    1 cup butter
    4 eggs, well beaten
    1 tsp. cloves
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. nutmeg
    1 tsp. allspice
    3 cups flour
    1 tsp. soda
    1 cup buttermilk
    1 cup strawberry preserves
    1 cup chopped nuts

    Directions

    Cream sugar and butter together.  Add egg; beat
    well.  Sift spices with flour; add soda.  Add flour
    mixture and buttermilk alternately.  Add preserves
    and nuts.  Pour into 4 prepared pans.
    Bake at 350 for 30 minutes.
    Frost with cream filling with nuts.
