Chocolate Creole Cake
2/3 cup boiling coffee 1 1/2 square unsweetened chocolate 1 3/4 cup flour 1 1/2 cup sugar 1 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. soda 1 tsp. salt 3/4 tsp. ground cloves 1/2 cup shortening 1/2 cup sour milk 1/2 tsp. vanilla 2 eggs Directions Pour boiling coffee on chocolate. Let set to cool. Sift together dry ingredients. Cream shortening into flour mixture. Add coffee mixture, sour milk and vanilla; beat well. Add eggs. Beat 2 minutes. Pour into 9 x 13-inch pan. Bake at 350 for 35 to 40 minutes. |
