Fudge Brownies

    Ingredients

    1 cup butter
    2 cups sugar
    4 eggs
    1 tsp. vanilla
    4 sq. chocolate
    1 cup flour
    2 cup chopped nuts
    Icing:
    2 cups sugar
    1/2 cup white corn syrup
    3/4 cup cream
    1 sq. unsweetened chocolate, melted
    1 tsp. vanilla
    3 Tbsp. butter

    Directions

    Mix all ingredients in order listed; pour into
    greased 9-inch baking pan.  
    Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.  
    Cut into squares.
    For the icing, mix first 4 ingredients in saucepan.  
    Cook to soft-ball stage or 234 degrees on candy
    thermometer.  Remove from heat; add vanilla and
    butter.  Beat well; spread on top and sides of
    squares.
